I hope clearing them catches on here, the disgusting eyesore that these
become after just a few days is even more untenable with the impending
Olympics

I corrected your subject line for you.

I'm sure the Olympics can survive the massive total of ten ghost bikes
in London, none of them near the Olympics site. But hey, don't let
facts get in the way of an anti-cyclists opportunity, especially where
it involves dead cyclists which seems to be your forte.

The Ghost Bike placed by Greenwich Cyclists to mark the spot where
Adrianna Skrzypiec was killed by a hit and run lorry driver was
removed by Greenwich Cyclists after a month to mark another killing.
The spot where Adrianna was killed is now maked with an orange
bicycle, placed there by the family.

Ah yes - just the job for a very pleasant wankcry:

Noun - Psycholist
Pronunciation Key : psy·cho·list.
Origin: based on the outbursts of a rabid Psycholist called Guy
Chapman

A cyclist who is one of a small group who frequent the news group
uk.rec.cycling they have invented their own "language" to justify
their views:

Examples:

9) Whenever they hear of a cyclist being killed in an accident -
they are obliged to say things like "My thoughts are with his/her
family" when they have had no dealings with them whatsoever. This is
commonly called a wankcry.

To be totally fair, the effectively-meaningless "my/our thoughts are with the
family" formula is so commonly used these days that to attribute it to one
narrowly-defined group is to rather miss the point.

Whoever utters it, it has become such a commonplace that it has to be a
strong candidate for inclusion in Private Eye's Pseud's Corner (Meaningful
Scenarios At This Moment In Time).
