Neck, shoulder, rib protection for road/gravel
Last year I hit a pot hole at a good clip. Broke some bones - not fun!
So, I wondering if there is any effective upper body armor for road/gravel riders. Seems to be a lot for BMX, but nothing for road/gravel (except https://newatlas.com/helite-bsafe-ai...ng-vest/58050/ ). Any suggestions? Thanks, Dave |

Thanks, Dave Having done that (more than once, just not offroad) I doubt effective armor could be comfortably worn. For scrapes and abrasions probably yes and many products exist. For real impact not so much. The clever chaps at the 1997 Northridge robbery welded up steel armor which held through literally hundreds of police rounds but even that wasn't 100%: http://oubliestella.info/uafkwr/FbSf...5fwoVwHaFj.jpg -- Andrew Muzi www.yellowjersey.org/ Open every day since 1 April, 1971 |

I have broken bones twice, my pelvis and several ribs, in bike crashes. In neither case was there any abrasion damage evident on my clothes or body. -- Cheers, John B. |

Above 65 degrees short sleeve jerseys and shorts are too warm if you are riding hard |
