I know I am going to get **** for this but I have filled a bottle from a roadside puddle before. The trick is to get the bottle below the floating chemicals before you fill it and to ignore the little things swimming in it. Once it is in the bottle it tastes the same, with the little critters adding some protein. You're not "going to get ****" for that, Bill. Now, the HERSHEY SQUIRTS is another matter. I seem to be immune to just about everything and never even get a noticable cold or flu. Stress your immune system by not being a clean freak and you will have a stronger line of defense when some real **** hits the fan. I have only been hit 3 times since 1977. 2 times food poisoning (roach coaches) and one mystery fever up to 106 then down in about 6 hours. Bill Baka |

Iron (Gut) Bill (you, I mean, not I) The only time I had a bad experience was about 6 months ago when I ate way too many prunes on my way up the mountain to my (semi) private waterfall. The damn things beat the hell out of ex-lax. Bill Baka |

Yep, better health through filth. Nothing you eat is ever totally clean. We really do take in a few pounds of dirt every year in the food we eat or even the air we breath. I just don't obsess over it, if you want that, watch 'Monk' on television. Bill Baka |

Now I can ride 3000 miles a day usually on gnarly single track 7 days a week because my body doesn't waste energy digesting food. I just process sunlight and water from my private waterfall. And since I live in the desert my waterfall is only falling 19 days a year. Of course, my butt does get sore! |

Well, this area is kind of like the desert in the summer and only the snow melt fromon high keeps the waterfall going (and the swimming hole below it). Kind of nice to ride up in 100F then take a swim at the destination point, relax for a half hour and then pedal back. And my butt still gets sore from the jeans. Bill Baka |

Having a mountain stream fed swimming hole to myself at the midpoint of a long ride beats the hell out of car dodging in the city. And the jeans stay, no lycra, ever. Crazy Bill was my handle on a motorcycle, not a pedal cycle, so you guys kind of missed. I would challenge any of you to a week long survival test away from civilization any day. Bill Baka |
