Does the Near-Default signal the End of Democracy?
It may be argued that "YES," this is the end of it --but not the beginning. The beginning, perhaps, can be traced to 2000 when Bush stole the elections and launched some unnecessary wars. The clues, though, are everywhe GREECE, the "mother of democracy," is also paralyzed by CORRUPTION and near default. And at the local level, money is going down the drain while the badly needed things --say "bike facilities"-- go ignored.
I don't think the Canadians or Germans need to worry about the end of democracy for the time being, but the tide may be turning as we march toward the "end of times," not determined by Bible prophecies but as a struggle for survival before dwindling resources and CLIMATE CHANGE. This is my Wisdom of the Jungle for the day. ----------------------------------------- http://webspawner.com/users/BANANAREVOLUTION |

Does the Near-Default signal the End of Democracy?
Wow, your thinking is really ****ed up, Monkey! It wasn't George W.
who stole the 2000 election; it was Algore who TRIED to steal it. Remember, Algore was the one who filed suit in the Florida courts, and he simply lost when it reached the U.S. Supreme Court. Algore simply wanted the Democratic election officials in Florida to keep counting all the screwed-up ballots until they counted them all as Algore votes. The Supreme Court couldn't allow that to continue because it has the clear effect of disenfranchising Republican voters. And you know how all that "hanging chad" was created, don't you? The only way you can get a ballot with hanging chad out of the voting machine is if the Democratic precinct worker, who knows you're a registered Democrat, gives you 10 ballots and you put them into the voting machine and try to punch them all at once. God, George W. was SUCH a great President compared to the Obamination! |

The Republican take on events sounds almost comical...
I would have given it to Gore for the simple reason that the majority of votes --the popular vote-- went to him. At least that's the COMMON SENSE approach. But it was Bush's unnecessary wars that marked the planted the seed for the crisis. Nobody questioned who would pay for the wars when they were apparently "free." |
