Default EBC sale - Specialized Bike

Edinburgh Bike Coop has the Specialized Pro Hardrock with disk brakes in its
sale, starting tomorrow, at £350, reduced from £500. I have the 2000
Hardrock but I would like disk brakes.

Is there a reason why they are putting this in the sale - glut or perhaps
just a teaser?

And can I sell my existing bike - which, part from lacking disks, is well
nigh perfect?

They didn't sell it before Christmas.

Do you use it in very muddy conditions? If so, disks are good. If not,
they're slightly heavier, slightly more thief-magnet and you won't
notice much difference.

I do a long downhill every day from work and stopping in the rain is quite
important - traffic lights at the bottom. And no, I'd like to use it in
really muddy conditions but seldom get the chance.
