dia compe silver friction shifters with sram apex rear derailleur?

read in some places that sram rear derailleurs not always compatible with the above shifters (old suntour).

Doesn't make sense to me, but....

anyone knows?

the new diacompe have travel for the entire range. But one of the
websites says that they may not shift some sram gears? Ill find out
when I get them

1:1 travel SRAM products will tax that lever's cable travel
over a Ten. Probably won't span the range

installed yesterday. it barely makes it. if it sits properly on the 12, it won't make it to the 32. if it makes it to the 32, it has a tiny noise on the 12. havent ridden yet. will report later. I can shift great with 9speed and friction. we'll see about 10. Ordered a shimano acera rd. will see how it wrks.

Rode to day with diacompe shifters and 10 speed cassette and sram apex. ****fted without problems. Sometimes Id had to do do some minor adjustment, but the chain would sit square on each gear. I jumped and sprinted several times to put pressure on the gears. Just to clarify, Im not some hot shot racer who sprints to stop signs. I just wanted to make sure that the shifting was accurate.

rode again this weekend, with climbing and downhill. couldn't shift into the lowest gear or the highest one. So, was limited to 8 sprokets. Got home and exchange the damned sram derailleur for an acera. Much better. Long live friction and cheap rear derailleurs.

Sram produces both their own 1:1 equipment and also Shimano
compatible series in both changers and shifters.
