Default fox f80x suspension forks probs

Hi.... anyone got any help for me ...well.!!... for my mate that is
..I cant afford these forks ...:-))
the above forks are this years and only used about 4 times
today at the start of a race they would not work they where locked solid .
He had them them upside down for 3 days and noticed a little bit of oil
on the stanchion but thats all . would keeping them upside down cause this
prob? would the cold weather ...?..Any help appreciated .He is near to
crying ...Tis ....sad ...

erm, they dont have the lockout on do they...............?
