Default Man pushes cyclist and demands money during attempted robbery

QUOTE:
A man was pushed and threatened in broad daylight as he walked along a busy road in Macclesfield.

Sometime between 1.15pm and 1.40pm on Monday (February 10) a man was pushing his bicycle along Chester Road, near the junction of Ivy Road, when an unknown male approached him.

The male pushed the victim before demanding money.

A passer-by intervened and the suspect fled the scene.

The male offender is described as white, of slim build and was wearing a black hooded top, black joggers and had a black rucksack with coloured markings.

Officers are now appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.

Detective Constable Andy Cole, of Macclesfield Local Policing Unit, said: “We are keen to track down this offender and bring him to justice.

“The outcome of this incident could have been a lot worse.

“I am keen to hear from anyone who may have been driving around the Chester Road, Ivy Road area of Macclesfield on Monday and may have caught dashcam footage of the suspect.

“I also want anyone who witnessed the incident or may know who the offender is to come forward.”

Anyone with information or dashcam footage is asked to call Cheshire police on 101 quoting IML 633793 or report via https://www.cheshire.police.uk/ro/report/

Isn't it time pedestrians had number plates so scum like this can be traced..
Licences and 3rd party insurance would also help.

But as we are so frequently told, a person with a bicycle is not a
cyclist, so this has nothing to do with this group, Simon should post it
to a 'pedestrian' group.

I have 'flagged' tm. the post as OT

Fully agree - they should have hi-vis jacket with their unique ID number on it and also a walking helmet for falls on ice or uneven flagstones.

If a pedestrian falls it is ,obviously, a cyclists fault. If the cyclist was wearing a helmet the pedestrian would not have fallen. If bicycles were subject to annual safety checks no pedestrians would be killed by motor vehicles. If cyclists had to obey speed limits there would be no road deaths anywhere in the world.

I have told you several times that your links describing ordinary
criminal acts have nothing to do with "cycling".

A person walking a bicycle is perhaps a bit of grey area. However, it
surely hinges on whether the attack would have taken place anyway or
whether it was because the person was pushing bicycle? This we don't know.
