How well do bearings work? What happens to the tires? Do shifters work? Any other issues? Inquiring minds want to know. DR |

As in "run-flat" tires? Or as in "I don't want to stop for any reason"? |

Cotton tubs run at normal pressures will flat slowly when they do eventually puncture. Tub punctures are less frequent than HP punctures when using equivalents. The better rolling of a tub permits the choice of a more resilient casing and tread. |

On reflection, I suppose whether a coaster brake works appropriately in the cold depends on the low-temperature properties of its grease. In horrible conditions such as we are discussing, I would be tempted to try coaster rear and drum front brakes. But I would be much more tempted to get the hell out of there for someplace as sultry as Galveston or as temperate as Bogotá. Chalo |
