Chainline
Given a cottered bottom bracket in poor condition, what's the best way
to go about finding a more modern replacement which will give the same chainline for a hub gear? |

Don't know ... take the bits to your LBS and see what they've got that's close, I reckon. Howsumdiver, if this is a Sturmey Archer hub, then you don't have to get the chain line exactly the same. The sprocket on the hub is dished and is fitted with spacers so, by moving the spacers and turning the sprocket round, the hub can be adjusted to allow for a change in chain line. -- Andrew |

(1) measure width of BB shell;[probably 68mm] (2) measure from the centre of the BB to the chainring. A good LBS should be able to work from these dimensions |
