ok so I'm enjoying this googlegroup even though some of the things
people say are confusing or wrong or even mean. first off, one of you
is saying that if bike racers go only ONE MILE or a half a mile that
men will still be faster than women. well thats just plain dumb, who
races a bike for one mile? and then people are saying that those
racers will go 50 miles an hour well obviously thats ridiculous too I
ride everyday and I can go 15 and sometimes even 20 miles an hour but
no one can go 50 miles on a bike. I was talking about women being as
good as men at cycling, maybe even better espcially when you consider
they have it harder to be pros. and why are all of you trying to
convince me that someone who knows so much about womens sports (GBMT)
is a man, that is ridiculous it is so obvious that she is a woman. it
was very nice of her to give me those great links to information about
women bike racers they were great even though one didnot work. thank
you GBMT, what is your real name? are you a famous bike racer???
also, why do you think the people here are so awful, you said such
horrible things about them? maybe you could tell me which people here
KNOW about biking and which people DONT (like people who think bike
races are one mile long!)that would be helpful so i know who to look
for

I'm sorry but the original troll was ever so much more well crafted.
Do try harder, do.

Gee, don't they teach you anything at the University of Wisconsin ?

This is the Usenet

One doesn't need to know anything about anything to be an expert here.

Well, it's not so much about who knows bike racing here for me, but who's
civil. Quickly, the ones who are civil and you can always trust to give a
civil and straight answer are Benjo Maso, Jeff Jones, Dan Connelly, the
Bornfeld brothers, Illan, there are others off hand I can't recall, oh yes
Carl Sundquist, he's usually very straight forward and honest. The rest of
your questions I'll leave for them or someone similar, I am rushed out the
door now!

Not a famous bike racer at all. Claim to fame is climbing with cat-1 in the
past, climbing was my passion. The most famous bike racer in here is Carl
Sundquist, he won 4 national titles, much more.

Holy crap--I've been short-listed! ;-)
For the record, I have few answers. I didn't even complete my only
season of racing, and that was 1986 (a face plant ended my season and
racing career).
Mark was actually a more talented rider, but never raced (he's also
rarely if ever posted here). We were fans back then. We were single
and had time to ourselves.
I did get to watch the Worlds in '86 in Colorado Springs. Got to meet
lots of my heros, and collect autographs like a kid. Of your list I did
get to meet Carl one day at the track in the stands--a gentleman. Most
of the pros were very polite and gracious.
Speaking of women, they were all around. Mariane Berglund had only to
see me with a camera in my hand for her to stick out her tongue and
strike a sexy pose. I've got to look for that photo...

For a short time I was thinking your post might have been legit. Now I feel
like I was pretty stupid. That's OK, it's a feeling I'm used to...

Well, you are trying to make a living selling bicycles.

Hey, that reminds me. Do you remember that episode of Diff'rent Strokes
that featured a bike-shop owner?
