Default Driver arrested after cyclist left with serious injuries inChelmsford hit-and-run

QUOTE:
A driver has been arrested after a suspected hit-and-run left a cyclist with serious injuries.

A cyclist was reportedly hit by a grey Seat Ibiza in Partridge Avenue at the junction of Wickham Crescent in Chelmsford at around 9.50am on Sunday (September 13).

The car failed to stop after colliding with the bicycle - but crashed just five minutes later into a roundabout in Essex Regiment Way, near Costa Coffee.

The 65-year-old cyclist suffered serious arm and hip injuries as a result of the collision.

The driver, an 18-year-old from Chelmsford, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and driving while unfit through drink and drugs.

He has been released under investigation.

Essex Police are continuing their enquiries into the incident. They are now appealing for information from anyone who may have seen the collision or has dash cam footage.

You can contact Stanway Roads Policing Unit on 101 quoting incident 375 of 13 September.

Alternatively, you can report online or contact Crimestoppers 100% anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online.

"driving while unfit through drink and drugs"?

It really is about time that was made illegal, wouldn't you say?
