Belgian Cyclist Dies In Giro D'Italia Crash
Belgian cyclist Wouter Weylandt has died following a serious crash on the third
stage of the Giro d'Italia cycle race. Looks like his death could have been caused by his helmet - or at least it will have contributed to it. http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/2011...t-giro-ditalia -- Members of the medical profession refer to cyclists as "donors". What cheap, idiotic, callous and vulgar point are you making by using his death as an opportunity for misplaced and ill-informed sarcasm? |

The guy was about to be a father and reading about this death was awful. :-( No doubt Cheerless et al will be along with the Champagne and party poppers in due course. -- Simon Mason |

Sorry - just pointing out that many here say that helmets contribute to head injuries - are you saying that they don't and his helmet could not have contributed to his injuries? Why do you have to get your kicks by spouting complete unsubstantiated nonsense about helmets. Do you have an identical twin who moonlights for "Brake" ? His face was comprehensively flattened against a very solid, near flat object, sweet f*ck all to do with his helmet. -- |

You make no reference to what others have said here or elsewhe that part of your second posting is a lie. - are you saying that they don't I make no general comment about helmets. and his helmet could not have contributed to his injuries? I was watching this race live when this happened. Were you? Have you seen the footage? His injuries were to his face and forehead: I can confidently say that his helmet did not contribute to his injuries. My thoughts are with his family. Of course they are.
