How to Try Out a Recumbent?

I have become very interested in recumbent bikes. I'll be moving shortly to San Diego and wonder if there is any place in the area selling them or renting them so I could try one out and see if it suits? The cost is considerable and I wouldn't want to buy one without assurance that I really liked it and was able to manage it, etc. I live in San Diego and best as I can determine there is only one area bikeshop with a presence in recumbents - Kirk's Bike Shop in Ramona. http://www.kirksbikeshop.com/ There are two recumbent riding groups that meet on the weekends in Mission Bay. I think one of these focuses on, but is not restricted to, Lightnings. Like you, I am considering a 'bent. jim |
