So far, the car-haters have mainly concentrated on bullying drivers by changing factors external to the car itself. However, that's not to say that they won't eventually move on to sorts of things that you list above. Their petty unpleasantness knows no bounds. |

Wait though, what is their usual maximum freeway speed limit? However, that's not to say that they won't eventually move on to sorts of things that you list above. *Their petty unpleasantness knows no bounds. So "they" are going to start banning air con, stop drivers listening to music and replace the seats with a bed of nails, with a hair shirt as the back rest? -- Simon Mason |

Wait though, what is their usual maximum freeway speed limit? Depends on the state. Which one were you "thinking" of? Or did you think that there was a federal limit (perhaps of 55)? Well, you were wrong (again). |

There are an awful lot of cars in the US, for sure, and some of them are incredibly big, but the places I've driven (Boston, NY, Philly, Bay Area, so only coastal conurbations, not the heartlands or deep south) have had traffic micromanagement rather than traffic management. Peds are also regulated to hell and back. It's an amazingly prescriptive roadscape. - -- Guy Chapman, http://www.chapmancentral.co.uk The usenet price promise: all opinions are guaranteed to be worth at least what you paid for them.
