You experienced riders out there. I am after a shop that doesn't think
every cyclist has a big fat wallet and can service road bikes with
care and attention to detail. My local mechanic seems to have lost the
touch so..

Central Eastern suburbs around Burwood way - anyone got a shop to fit
the bill?? I need a new mechanic for some major drive train surgery.

I find Ashburton Cycles is pretty good - they will deal with you honestly
about the repair that are needed and help you with decisions.

They have a sister shop on the corner of Burwood Highway and Warrigal rd.
They are a specialist tri shop there, owned by the same people - I have
never used that store however.

ok, eastern suburbs. Get on a train, or ride to Richmond Station, get
off train, walk or pedal around to Swan, look at shopfronts, there you
will see Abbotsford Cycles. Not trying to drum up business for Peter,
but, he's helped out a lot of friends of mine (& me too). Take in RRR
subscriber card for a discount as well. Maybe something closer to where
you are, but hope the above is of assistance.

The guys at Fitzroy Cycles are pretty good... I've only bought bits and
pieces there, and bought my bike somewhere else, but they have been very
helpful with problems, and always up for a chat....

I take my business to Doug at CycleWorks in Whitehorse Rd Box Hill. He has
alway dealt with me fairly, and his mechanic knows his stuff.

Sting.

ACR. Very good on road bikes, so don't get put off by the wet suits.
It doesn't do MTBs. One of their guys used to be a mechanic with
Saturn.

I've heard good things about Barry Wadell across Burwood Hwy from ACR.

Regards,
Richard.

Its such a common story these days to hear of people going in for a
simple service and end up replacing half the bike, that i'm prepared to

Similar sentiments about ACR, and live around corner.

So where do you recommend? I am after someone I can trust who
understands those of us on older bikes with limited budgets but who like
to go FAST!!
