CHAIN LUBE CHAIN LUBE CHAIN LUBE
as mentioned in "brake pad treatment 2", i poneyed up the $14 for a Qt
of valvoline 80-140 synthetic transmission oil. I have the Valvo synth in my Volvo, running at 104 with the synth not 97. Amazing. so at half price fron the 'CC' what gives? Here in SW FLA there's lees throw off. In fact, our carefully chosen test cycle's transmission line did not throw offf any Valvo. Shall i repeat that?? In fact, our carefully chosen test cycle's transmission line did not throw offf any Valvo. And it is expletive deleted HOT here. OCT 1: 110 in still air. The Valvo may be, depending on your orientation, a hot weather lube given today's inclination to run water in the sump. The Valvo is more viscose than the "CC" but not much or there's more STP type compound in the Valvo, an effective and long lasting find in the Valvo motor oil. And I let the Valvo lube setup in that 110 heat which "CC" recommends too. what goes on in Michigan? I dunno. next year. Dirt accumulation? either similar or better on the rollers, maybe a little more on the sideplates or the same, and much more on the vertical CR surfaces out of the tooth area that showed less grime than the "CC" That side CR ring accumulation is similar to the adding of flax seed oil to regular motor oil. The flax seed oil catchs dirt centifuge-like as it's thrown off the toothed areas. I added the flax seed oil to reduce the acrid motor oil odor. So, odor of Valvo? Nill! Not so odor of woolmort synth, stinking like expletive deleted. Don't save $5 here. Off course one of "CC"'s delights was the delightful fragrance not found in say Kendall's Best. If yawl clean the chain of "CC" with thinner and then recycle the thinner/CC/grime into a plastic bottle, grime settles out and the odor of pressed flaxseed(linseed) appears. The valvo has a good hard feel to it with a smooth easy power delivery certainly in the same frictionless area as the "CC" Decant the Valvo into the old "CC" bottle. 3 0z not 4.25 oz. DUH. Then replace the foil. a used spoke carefully applied will push the foil out next time 3 oz. later. Those of yawl new to this will find, sooner or later or which ever comes first that transmission oil has a distinct knack of tipping over when yawl go to miami on the antique chinese rug. This is the purpose of the bottle's design: driving everyone one nuts when the crap spills on the antique chinese rug. Now that that all done remebner to cut the unused bottle's tip very close to its end NOT DOWN AT THE BOTTOM STUPID WERE NOT FILLIN EXPLETIVE DELETED BULLDOZERS HERE!! i shud post that next week, right? The brake prep works. A good combo. ahppy motoring. |

the temp falls to 65! above! from 80. wonders: the valvo stays the
same viscosity as advertised or so it seems. and continues to lube and not throw off. the rim stays clean i store the bike upright on the rear rack's rear edge. an evening lube will run off over night-and not an excessive application-but not throw off on the morning's commute! compared to the epic finish line where throw off is constant, the epic throw more grit off with the lube than the valvo that holds onto the chain/gears with the grit sliding down CR's sides with aggragrit. but the epic goes dry at 80 plus over 20 miles and the valvo does not over 60-100 here in sandville-the necessary cleaning interval. so what goes on in the sideplates with this observed difference? well, the extra viscosity resists grit penetration(see boat-trailer-wheel- bearing grease for deray pulleys)but holds slightly more grit on the surface before winding grit down into the batter and the epic throws itself and grit off into the landscape. seems like the side plates are less crunchy with valvo than epic! the film inside appears both resistant to grit penetration and throwoff. |

The valvo synthetic transmission gear lube test now runs through the
normal summer temperature range for the Continental US. Throwoff through the air from chain/cluster too rim is non-existant. Amazing! Today's morning commute brought a thought that this remarkable characteristic is due to the family of anti-foaming "agents" built into this hi quality oil a characteristic probably not found in cycle lubes as who needs the expense? Watching the anti-foam process, watching not general available with a gear transmission 'cept thru the filler hole in times of lube crisis is interesting! The lube goes thru a metal to metal tranfer at the chain/cluster and chain/CR but not thru the air to the rim! The lube found on the rim with cycle oils is now found at the CR and cluster. how about that! max stop!!! |

"Ruote convenzionali costruite eccezionalmente bene"
Book at eleven!! when that happened, at dawn, i did a double take back to the fabled mystery oil that climbs the screwdriver while you watch story. lube on the floor-no lube on the rim like i mean i am impressed with this no really. add it to hose-washing your butt and the brake pad prep with belt dressing and uh the auto pro tube patch glue and that's my year good buddy. |

"Ruote convenzionali costruite eccezionalmente bene"
book at ll I saw the small dark spot on the floor as I pulled the bike backwards out of the garage in the store upright off the rear rack edge position, at dawn. And doubletaked to the polymer lube climbing a screwdriver shaft fable not yet in op but that small lube dripout from the prior evening's chain relube made my day, and season, counterpoint to the no lube on rim performance from valvo synth. I added a chain shield for the hot sun day long park position- superduper bag split halvesees and draped over cluster down chain to CR-prevents boil off. Valvo synth goes well with the brake prep auto parts store belt dressing-one definite upgrade to stage 3. Different bike experience completely and $$. |
