Looks like the total for the storm will be about 2-3 inches of rain in the Portland area: https://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lat=45.5118&lon=-122.6756 https://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?w3u=1&w5=pop&w7=rain&w13u=0&w16u=1&Ah eadHour=48&FcstType=graphical&textField1=45.5118&t extField2=-122.6756&site=all&unit=0&dd=&bw=&AheadDay.x=30&Ahe adDay.y=10 https://www.nwrfc.noaa.gov/misc/hmd/hmd.php I don't know if 2-3 inches will put out a fire that's gone underground, but it should slow down the spread of the fire. However, the rain will only be in parts of Oregon, Washington, and Idaho, leaving other parts of the area to continue burning. Rain later this week will help, too. There is still some haziness, but the air is much better in PDX. -- Jay Beattie. |
