Default What's that rattle in my CPX-33?

I have a 36 spoke Mavic CPX-33 laced to an Ultegra 6600 rear hub less than a
year old. A week ago I had the bike on the stand and noticed a rattle coming
from the rear wheel.

After poking around for a while and taking the tire/tube off I realized
there's something loose IN the rim between the two spokes that straddle the
weld. I checked the spokes and nipples in the area and they are all tight.
Aren't the sleeves in the spoke holes secured? Even if I took the spokes off
I wouldn't be able to get access to that area, would I?

Any ideas what it could be or suggestions to fix it?

Same thing in mine. I was able to get a few pieces out through the
presta hole. They are little scraps of aluminum, probably from drilling
the rim.

Welcome to the world of Mavic QC. The last two rims I have purchased
(Open Pro and the new design MA Sport) and built up have exhibited this
same problem.

I used to buy "only" Mavic. I am thinking it's time for some
experimenting.

Small wedge used to hold the rim together when they weld it and it
often breaks loose and rattles around. Small drill hole at that spot,
fill with some glue...Someday, maybe, they will stop welding seams, It
does nada.
