today's rant
After a very nice summer (never oppressively hot, adequate
and short rainstorms, mild winds) everything suddenly went to hell here this week. It's been wet, windy, bleak and grey and we just set an all-time record low. This weather in January would be a blessing, and it is snowing now in NE and KS, but for early September here, it's miserable, as am I. -- Andrew Muzi www.yellowjersey.org/ Open every day since 1 April, 1971 |

It was warm summer but I never mind that as I age the body prefers hotter weather and the cold not so much. Trouble around here is spent the last two months with almost no wind and riding was a good as it gets as far as I am concern. Been able to ride 275-390 mile weeks. Then damn if the wind does not start blowing a but and I am bitching about 8-12mph winds. Grey is the definite color. Deacon Mark |

Deacon Mark In California this was one of our dry years so the lightning storms of a month ago set so many fires in out of the way areas that today the entire sky is yellow with ashes falling. Last year was a dry year as well but with high winds. California passed laws that forced PG&E to make "renewable energy" top priority and so line maintenance took a bottom line to their requirement to generate more than half of their energy from renewable resources by 2025. Then they held them responsible for the fires due to poor line maintenance. The lines that started the Paradise fire were installed in 1921. All of the lines and transformers were scheduled to be replaced, before the demand for renewable energy (and they couldn't possibly have met that idiotic renewable energy anyway. They've already had to totally replace their windfarms already and the solar farms are becoming less effective with each passing day. When we have a "wet year" it fills the water table completely. After two dry years we STILL have water in the local mountain streams. These bleed into the reservoirs and keep them filled. And this is in a dry area. |

Two entire towns in southern Oregon just went up in flames. https://tinyurl.com/y24cckq4 I have friends and family nearby. I can't remember the last time it rained here in PDX, which is significant. It has been a very strange year -- particularly with all the smoke recently. The end is https://tinyurl.com/ycrxtoo7 ! -- Jay Beattie. |

Best weather in the history of the world on Labor Day Monday. Riding was super!!!!!!!! Then late that night, cold, rain, wind. Yuck. 50 degrees right now and rainy. Had to walk to the grocery store in the pouring rain for milk and Fruit Loops. Umbrella was good to have. Of course I suspect Des Moines and Madison probably have pretty similar weather year round. |

One would expect that Oregon can't burn because it is always under a rain cloud But weather will be variable. |

I was feeling so awful on Wednesday that I thought that I hadn't slept in months. Then I installed the new kitchen sink faucet. I really didn't want to do it because of how I felt. But getting up from under the sink. I felt a very sharp difference. Since then I have improved every hour. I still haven't slept any better but I feel like I have. I'm 75 and plainly every single thing that moron Fausi has said is either a lie or a entire misunderstanding of the statistics. |
