chain wear/suck
I'm experiencing chain suck on my Klein mtn bike. The chain hangs
onto the chain ring and grinds up my chain stay when attempting to shift from the middle ring to the large ring, or shifting from the smallest ring to the middle ring. I examined the crankset and didn't see anything that looked suspect, although I'm not sure exactly what I'm looking for. I recently changed out the frame for a newer model of the same frame. When I did that I replaced the chain, and shortly thereafter replaced the rear cassette. I hadn't known about the need to change the chain regularly, and had owned the bike for 8 years and bought it used. As far as I know the chain was never changed in all that time. My question is this, is it pretty much a 'for sure thing' that my chain rings are worn and that I need to replace the crankset? Is there a easy way to tell? Thanks. |
