High School Mountain Bike Racing
"The number-one challenge is finding (and keeping) suitable race
venues". The "keeping" part is probably about me getting the race at Walker Creek (Marin County) cancelled, due to its inappropriate use of pristine woodland! Too bad they can't see that the difficulty in finding someone willing to subect their land to such abuse is precisely due to mountain biking (ESPECIALLY mountain bike RACING) being environmentally destructive! DUH! Mike From: "Mark Kintz" Subject: FW: Youth Camp event Date: Tue, 16 Sep 2008 09:42:04 -0700 Hi All: As follow-on to Henri's post....here's maybe the one, the only, the last chance local cyclists will get to influence the allowed uses of the East Garrison Day Camp (henceforth known as the Youth Camp). I'd suggest a careful read of the Mission Statement (attached) and think about how we can contribute to the cycling part of their mission. As far as the NorCal League goes, the number-one challenge is finding (and keeping) suitable race venues. If you believe that cycling is a worthwhile activity, believe that youth competitive athletics is an essential component of a complete education, then you need to be there to help support not just the cause of riding trails on the property, but racing.
