Default Stretching your muscles

Hi,

I remember reading that after cycling, it is good to stretch your
muscles.
I just cannot remember precisely why, except something about
elongating those worked muscles.

How true is this?

Thanks!! XiaoZhen

P/s: I like cycling too.

Some people say it makes them feel better, especially if there is soreness
or stiffness. I've done it, but it doesn't seem to do much for me.

And many people do it badly....

They jerk at the muscles, they round or arch the back so contribute to
back pain, and they move joints in the wrong planes.

I stretch gently during the day at work, seems to work better for me
than doing it as part of riding.
