Default cycling as practical conservatism

i tried some other forms of activism only to be alienated by a lot of folks
who think they have the universe all figured out. cycling, OTOH has proved
to be not only good for the economy, roads, traffic, my health and a bunch
of other stuff and i dont even have to deal with a lot of uncompromising
idealists to do it! when im cycling nobody can call me a liberal (i hate
that!), or a conservative (because i think they mean neo-con); but bicycling
is conservative in the most bare sense of the word: it's practical.

It's a pee hole in the snow. Don't intellectualize it, just ride &
enjoy life.

OK, I had my first laugh for Monday Morning. Why do we try to
intellectualize everything? Why can't we just enjoy it? Riding a bike
should be fun, freedom, exercise and a feeling of liberation from the
cars, gas prices and road rage we deal with when we drive. I found
cycling to be a real sense of freedom. A time to just ENJOY!!!! But I
am not in training for a century. I am just riding for fitness and fun.
All Good Things,
Maggie
PS. A PEE HOLE IN THE SNOW??????????? I'd rather think of Angels in
the snow.

The terms Liberal and Conservative appear to have morphed into very
narrow catagories now-a-days, pertaining only to one's stance on a few
narrow social issues.

You can be fiscally liberal to the point of being irresponsible and
still be a conservative. (actually, that appears mandatory)

And if your for the conservation of energy, you're a liberal.

And as for the "liberal" use of the department of defense, turning it
into the dept of offense (the best defense is a good offense?) and
thereby needing a new department of defense (dept of homeland security)?
Conservative.

"liberal" gun control policies? Conservative.

It appears Liberal only applies to abortion and drug policies.

Flame away.

OK, let's analyze that...

No, you're right.

Preemptive invasion of other countries: conservative.

Spending 2-300 billion of ethereal money failing to
secure objectives of said invasion: conservative.

massive increase in spending while in budget deficit: conservative.

Huge taxpayer-funded subsidies for the most profitable corporations:
conservative.

ETc. etc. Not much conservative about this current crop
of so called conservatives.

What a unique idea, riding a bike just because you enjoy it and want to,
you'll never make a political statement or boost your ego doing it that that
way :)

Why flame? You are pretty much on target and everyone will have a
somewhat different opinion anyway, some hugely different, and some, even
the few illiterate will show up. I have a few differences but not enough
to flame on.
Happy days. (Not watching the news today).

P.S. Why call it new when it always starts with "A soldier was killed in
Iraq...."? It should be called old or repeat.

It's new to the kid who just lost his father or mother.
