Default No more Vredestein recumbent tires?

I was talking to Bill Cook (of Barcroft fame) this morning. He told me
that Vredestein has given up on the recumbent tire market (at least in
the US).

Anyone else heard this?

I wasn't aware there was a recumbent tire market, I thought it was all just
bicycle tires

Yes. I tried to order a 406, 1.3 S-Lick yesterday and was told by Barb at
Hostelshoppe that this tire was no longer available. I was able to order the
26" version however.

Another Happy New Year or what???!!! After all the "hoops" I went
through, that is very sad news if it is true. I looked everywhere for
Vredestein tyres and found them at last, at Zach Kaplans. If anyone
might know about truth to this rumor; he might!

Anyone interested in buying an Optima Rider with 3 two month old
Vredestein tyres on it?

Chris Jordan
Santa Cruz, CA.

The Monte is still on the website:

http://www.vredesteinusa.com/sp-tyres/index.html

But the 20" size of the S Lick and the Monte are not in the print
catalog, and I was told at Interbike that they would not be importing
them, unless someone special ordered "a large quantity." Not sure how
many.

The importer is:

S-licks are still on the Vredestein website in both 559 and 406 varieties,
and are still being adverstised by dealers in the uk, so perhaps it's just
in the USA?

If you're prepared to pay the markup that we in 'ripoff Britain' usually
have to pay, then you could order them from over here!
