I generally use an old spoke and push it in between the bars and grip,
then psuh it around in a sort of spiral to help release the grip from
the bars, then pull it off. You can spray a bit of WD40 or GT85 in to
help 'lube' it.

When it's off, wipe the bars clean and apply either a bit of hairspray
or washing up liquid to 'wet' the surface, slide on grips and leave to
dry for a day, though they should be OK after a few hours

I also use wd40 (or an equivalent like gt something in a red and black can)
but instead of an old spoke I use a small electrical screwdriver to make a
gap to blast the wd40 into it using the long red nozzle. Normally comes off
really easily after that, just wiggle the grip around a bit to make sure
that the wd40 has got all round. Never bothered to clean the bars or grips,
just slide the grip back on and after a while (about 12 hours) it seems to
be firm enough!!

Or water, which seems to work just as well, and you don't need to clean it
off :-)

I've tried the WD40 method, and later tried water, and found it just as
effective. Alternative to the spoke is a thin screwdriver.

Or, again, plain water.

I use an open-ended spanner that's a snug fit on the bars - just place
it against the end of the grip and pull hard. It can be easier to clamp
the spanner in a bench vice and pull on the bars than trying to hold the
bars still while you pull the spanner. If the grips have been fixed
with an adhesive of some sort you may have to resort to jamming a long
narrow screwdriver down the side and squirting in some WD40 or similar,
working it all the way round, but this can render the removed grips
unusable. If all else fails, slit the grip with a Stanley knife and rip
it off with pliers.

WAshing up liquid will make them all slippery again when they get wet.

Using a syringe, inject water under the grips. It acts as a lubricant, and
makes them fairly easy to remove. For putting them back on, many bike
mechanics use hairspray, although I've never tried it myself.

On all types. The dried detergent is rehydrated by water seeping
between the bar and grip by capillary action, making a slippery soap
film between bar and grip
