any body have any hints, web sites, clues ? i'm riding in the dark here :-(

The Smart BL201s are okay as a relatively cheap set that do the job
fairly well. You can do better (the mount tends to be a bit bouncy, for
example), but they're a very fair price for what you get AFAICT.
Googling should bring up a few leads.

Personally, I think the cheapest way is to use ordianry lights that'll
take rechargable batteries....

8 x AA NiCads (a decent 800mAh each) can often be had for £4.99 (or
maybe £5.99) in Poundstretcher.

You can buy 1 hour chargers for them for well under a tenner.

This allows you to use the light /and/ carry a spare charged set of
batteries for when the first set run out!
