Default 30% Bike Sale Up in Canada

As gas price all time high in Canada:
1) 30% bike sale up
2) Gas consumption down
3) Public transportion usage up all time high

What's happen in US?
Small increased in bike sale and public transportation usage in US.
Canadians are taking more responsibility of relying non-automobile
usage than US.
Is that sign of Canadian are more socialist and enviornmentalist than
US? Probably so.
I think American is the last people to rely on bike as transporter.

=v= Actually there's been quite an uptick in the U.S. as well.
Our seriously-underfunded public transit systems are jammed all
over the country, and course we have a very serious problem
with car-oriented suburban sprawl.

One reason might be that our gas prices are quite a bit higher
here than in the US. Right now we're sitting at around $5 to $5.50 a
US Gallon. I've been commuting by bike a bit lately and I've noticed a
huge improvement in my mileage. I have an old Chevy S-10 pick-up and
usually get around 500 km per tank. My commute is 50 km roundtrip. I
filled the thing on the Sunday around June 25th and have yet to do so
again and the ODO is sitting at almost 600 km right now. Looks like
I've been losing 100km of mileage just sitting in traffic.
I have to add that I feel great after that ride in to work and my
day is much more enjoyable. Come the cold weather again, though, and
us Canucks will be back in our cars for another 6 months...

I would rather ride in a Quebec winter than a lower Midwest summer. A
person can always put on more clothes, but there is a limit to how much
people can reasonably take off [1]. I do wish Sorel® would make a SPD
compatible Caribou®, however.
