Im annoyed by the label HD. Its great programs support "HD" now, but me
and many other have footage way higher than the 1080. Some of my clips
are double what hd is now. In 2015, 2160p will become the new HD, but
for gamers, all of this is years old.

I dont know, I see HD on everything now, and to me, its just "Ok,
higher resolution, old news. Next?"

Ill just start labeling my monitor and games at ultra super HD. lol

I cant wait till Christmas is over. I think ill save up for my camera
then.

uhm... 2160p ... hd?
i take it you have not read up on 4K televisions yet?

I guess you havent.

4k = short for 4000x2000 = which is actually 4096x2160 = 2160 hd. It
better be deinterlaced/progressive for something at that res.

Right now their are demos of the sets that display that, but nothing
out commercially, and price will be close to or over $100k

I have a question about exporting my files.

I use Adobe Premiere Elements 3.0, and am wondering what is the best
file to save it as for the highest quality possible.

In the past i've saved stuff as .wmv but I made a 'test'
(http://vimeo.com/2624148) video, and I saved that to .mov which maybe
looks better.

My camera saves the footage as .avi but it seems like way too big of
files.

I would actually not mind some help for like what settings I should use
(bitrate, ratio, etc.)

Thanks,

-Isaac

smaller file size.

Use the H.264 or DivX codec and youll be pretty good. Higher the
bitrate, the better quality and the larger the size. Smaller bitrate
will give you lower quality but a smaller file size. Ratio should be the
same as what your footage is. if its 4:3, keep it at 4:3. Capturing off
a MiniDV tape will give you uncompressed avi files, which are really
sweet actually.

Compression doesnt bother me actually, cause for a very long time you
can upload 1gig files at youtube.

Emile, I have an hv20, its what all my recent videos have been shot
with, send me a PM if you've got any questions. I don't know what hes
talking about when he says exporting is difficult... its no different
than any other camera.

Its an awesome camera and $400CAD is an amazing price if its in like
new condition.

The problem is that it was also on e-bay, and the auction went way more
then 400$

I think I'll buy a Muni instead of a cam.

I'm still having lots of trouble exporting video from Premier Pro CS3
into any file size small enough to put online without being terrible
quality.

Original format is 720x480 DV AVI at 29 FPS, so I can export it to AVI
and it looks great, but the file size is almost a gig. Export it to
H.264 using premier's "youtube" preset (or any other preset for that
matter) and it all comes out jagged and choppy, and the top of the frame
jumps at every spot that i have changed clip speed.

Any ideas on how to export this into something I can feasibly upload to
youtube?
