Default Shared use tunnels

After a tireless campaign by Greenwich Cyclists, the Greenwich and Woolwich foot tunnels are to become shared use.

"The system is experimental and could be a model for other short routes where pedestrians and cyclists share limited space. The design appears simple and would appear not to overload users with too much information. It's best to see the concept as traffic lights that will reinforce when cyclists must dismount and walk because of heavy tunnel use."

The Greenwich Foot Tunnel forms a part of National Cycle Route 1, Deal to Shetland.

"Traffic lights" to police the behaviour of cyclists on a pedestrian route?

*Traffic* *lights*?

This does not inspire confidence, does it?

Just because motorists think traffic lights are optional doesn't mean primary vehicle users will ignore them.

Cyclists can share the tunnels under London, the Circle line is quite a
useful route

Continuous pestering and whinging by a bunch of no life muppets is a
more accurate description.

Since cyclists don't obey traffic signals on roads, what chance is there
of them doind=g so in a tunnel?

Deal to Shetland.

What a waste of public money.

Tube tunnels are not the public highway, and so cyclists do not enjoy a
common law, uninfringeable right to use them.

Just because motorists think traffic lights are optional doesn't mean primary vehicle users will ignore them.

By "primary vehicle users" do you mean cyclists? Who account for 1% of
journeys?

Primary means predominant, so that would be all motorised traffic.
