Obviously helmets aren't enough. Leather trousers obviously must be
mandated for the cyclist's safety! (Mandatory Pants :-)

I'm glad I don't live around cactus. Or ride near them. But the pictures are kind of interesting. 1. SUVs appear to be the vehicle of choice in Argentina/South America just like they are in the USA. Europe and maybe SE Asia are the only places in the world not overrun with pickups and SUVs. 2. I don't recognize the names on his shorts or jersey. "THIaGO" and "KAZYNA". South America has different cycling sponsors than Europe and USA.

I don't know if you can say that from a sample size of one. I just
browsed around Google Street View Buenos Aires for a while, and the
vehicle mix seems to have as far fewer pickups and SUVs than I see
around here. But that might vary with areas of the country.

I did see a really crappy "protected" bike lane - narrow even though
using the slanting gutter pan, bi-directional, with posts as collision
hazards, and on a street that might benefit from a counterflow lane, but
probably doesn't need the same-direction striping.
