Very nice people! One gentleman heard us trying to phone ahead about motel rooms (since tornadoes were forecast, we didn't want to camp), and said "Oh, they'll have rooms available. If they don't, just call me" and gave us his card. Well, they didn't have rooms, so he led us to his families home and set us up for the night - after we spent time playing tunes with his kids, who were (amazingly) into the same odd music I love. I was able to help his son set up his first fiddle, and give him some beginner lessons. And BTW, the storms that night would have had us airborne in our tents. That's the great experience that comes with touring by bike that a motor vehicle or train just can't compare. The US is a big country and there really are a lot of fine people in it. We only hear about the whacko's unfortunately. SMH |

Not chased per se, but had a fox run along side me (about 15-20 feet off the side of the road) for a good 300 yards or so. Very strange. *I saw him, he saw me, both going the same direction along a local side road out near a horse farm. *Expected him to bolt but he stayed right in step, loping along. Thought at first he might be rabid, but seems we were just heading the same direction and he was fairly tolerant of people. SMH I was in our front yard one evening and a fox blasted through it with two more right on its tail in what looked like hot pursuit. I was simply stunned at their speed, faster than any dog I've ever seen except maybe for my only visit to a greyhound track, and I'm not sure about that. So the next time you see your little red friend challenge him to a sprint. Tailwind and twelve, it won't matter, he's going to kick your ass. sa |

The herdsman fears that any disturbance will affect the milk quality. This could mean his milk is rejected which means he's worked for nothing. It's a risk he'd rather not take. Dont upset the herdsman or mysterious punctures you may encounter at the least. This is ND/MT I was talking about. Cattle are largely Heifer or Black Angus and are grown for a couple years for grills and MacDonald's. I'm fairly certain that most of these cattle wouldn't take too kindly to being milked! SMH |

Experienced at running from a *huge* male buffalo. One might EXPECT hassle with Buffalo .. but many dont with normally docile Cows. I don't think the cows would chase you but if there was a bull in the mix you would certainly have an interesting ride *through* cows, your words. Through cows yes. There were many. And they DO run and chase. And DO kill. So you can even **** off a cow? Hint do you never weave/cycle through traffic? You're such an arse at times. I cycle through traffic at the lights setting up for a left turn and such, but the cars are barely moving, so I can get between them. They look innocent but are worse than bulls if they decide to have a bad day. They look innocent? Right .... How does one cycle 'through' a cow? Your words, fool. Yes. And anyone sane would understand them. I guess the same way a Bull ****s using you. Am I squeezing your head? Wrecking it, maybe. Good! Bill Baka Again. |

How about you post some pics of these high-speed cows and other farm animals that you play with. Can you do that, Bill, or is all of this just more fantasy and fabrication? Dunno about high speed, but they can certainly do a decent trot, probably more typically about 8mph, use the stile, dont try to use a gate , they'll push through and you'll get the blame. First, they didn't pace me for a full mile. Well, you *said* they did, Bill. Here's your direct quote: Last year I was out in the boondocks pushing about 12 MPH into a headwind when a small herd of cows decided to pace me. With all the bells it was a constant dingle-ling for about a mile then they had to stop for a fence. What do you have to say about that, Bill? It's right there. You said they followed you until they hit the fence, for a mile. Can you wiggle out of that? Yes. I said 'about' a mile, not 'over' a mile. Maybe 3/4. Second, 12 MPH is kind of a light trot for a cow. Wrong, Bill. That's pretty fast for a cow, and there's no way they would do it for an entire mile. Oh, actually you claimed they did it for *another* mile on your way back, sometime later in the day: On the way back they did the same thing, following next to me until they hit the fence. That's another direct quote, Bill. What say you, Bill? I say the same as before, they were just curious and I was not going out to play road racer wannabe. Bill's posts are so extreme I googled some more. He seems even more of a bull****ter when it comes to Operating Systems. Some of his claims beggar belief. Is he trolling? Extreme? I have Sun Virtual Box and VMware server for virtual OS's so I installed everything I could. XP works under Ubuntu like XP. I also have DOS, Windows 3.11, and all the Linux versions I could download. This does not hold true for Linux working under XP. My computer is a toy after 30+ years of using one, so why not??? I think Simon is a bit overwhelmed or just a city boy who never ventured very far from home. Bill Baka |

Dan C wrote: So, Bill, you're asking us to believe that *cows* paced you at 12 MPH for a mile? Really, Bill? Cows routinely travel at 12 MPH for a whole mile? Come on Bill, who do you think you're fooling with bull**** like that? Can't speak for Bill and don't really recall how fast I was going, but yes, the cows definitely followed be along the fence line for quite some time. I was riding an 80 pound bike but was in pretty good shape by Montana/North Dakota, but don't really recall how fast I was going. Weight is not an issue since it was flat, just windy. Twelve mph seems about right though. 11-12, somewhere in there, but not fast. They weren't doing centuries with me though. What would you talk about? I don't get why Dan is picking this nit, the cows just paced me so what would I be bragging about or making up??? Bill Baka SMH |

You're trying to wiggle, Bill, but it's not working. It's hard when I post your direct quotes, isn't it? Anyway, you still claim that these cows paced you at 12MPH for "about a mile"? Is that your claim, Bill? Second, 12 MPH is kind of a light trot for a cow. Wrong, Bill. That's pretty fast for a cow, and there's no way they would do it for an entire mile. That's another direct quote, Bill. What say you, Bill? I say the same as before, they were just curious and I was not going out to play road racer wannabe. This doesn't address the basic question of how cows were able to pace you at 12MPH for "about" 2 miles, with some amount of rest interval between the two 1-mile events. Would you like to try again, Bill, or are you just gonna admit that you're bull****ting? Bill's posts are so extreme I googled some more.
