So far the Katy Times has not updated the story. Apparently the
publishers feel it is acceptable to report a story without using the
victims name, or even the name of the person who murdred the cyclist
be improper use of a motor vehicle.

Perhaps the victim's family - or an important part of it - hasn't yet been
notified. Or, perhaps, unlike some other local papers, the Katy Times
doesn't want to put the driver at risk of vigilante justice by publishing
his/her name.

The funeral was yesterday. The victim was 61 years old. He was three
blocks fromhome when he was murdered.

That shoots all MY theories.

But anyway, why do you insist on using the word "murdered?" Had he, too,
been driving an automobile at the time of the fatal collision, would THAT be
murder?

"Murder" describes a pre-meditated action. "Arrogance" and
"Irresponsibility" describe the way too many people drive automobiles these
days. Still, they're not necessarily murders.

I just hope the guy was riding like it was his last day on the saddle...the
way we all should.

Would you feel better if I used a gentler word, such as
Manslaughter???
He was killed by an 18 year old girl who failed to yield right of
way. Larry landed in the car after going through the windshield head
first. He suffered massive head injuires as a result of the criminal
actions of the young woman behind the wheel. Larry died late the same
day.

"Murder" is a deliberately loaded word and it is loathsome of you to
keep drilling on it. Murder requires premeditation and intent to kill,
neither of which have been demonstrated here. Stop being an asshat and
making the tragic situation even worse than it already is.

Knock off the histrionics. The poor man is dead and the driver will
carry this for the next 80 years of her life.

I hope your family will be just as hushed and reserved when you get
run over while enjoying a nice bike ride. I hope they are quiet. I
hope they shrug and go, "oh well" that's life.

It was premeditated. The girl deliberately, and with malice
aforethought, violated basic traffic laws without regard to the
tragedy her actions would cause. It's murder. Now do us all a
favor. Climb up my leg and have a ball...

Whether that was premeditated, intentionally criminal or not, I find
it insulting that a Newspaper reports:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“The BMW failed to yield the right of way while turning left and
struck a pedal cyclist attempting to travel eastbound through the
intersection,” a statement from the sheriff’s office said.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
without adding anything of its own to such burocratic, agnostic and
itself already insulting statement by the Police.
