Its all about interpretation. I was amused by the Australian tv postwrap where the expert guy said he didn't think Valverde was at top form which was good for Cadel Evans.. Which was kind of weird as Valverde gapped Evans at the top just before the finish but slowed when he realised he couldn't get Ricco. I didn't think anything would change at the top but then again you wouldn't think the guy in yellow would be able to fall off like that.. I thought Valverde would win and you could probably say he seemed to think that too but what I haven't read anywhere is he seemed somewhat ****ed off about the way Pereiro fell off right at the top I thought. So stage 7, the king of the mountains decider type of stage and another day of no GC interest I guess. |

The contenders watched each other, letting the non-threats get up the road knowing that they would come back to them. The elimination of time bonuses works for me, whatever reason the organizers had. I can still see Ricco putting himself back into the mix. -- Michael Press |
