Good kid dies biking on Manhattan Bridge

He sounds special and it's too bad that we won't get to hear from him in the future. The only time I rode over the Manhattan bridge was with a 5-Boro Bike Club ride where we rode over the East River bridges at night, so I'm not sure what happened, but you shouldn't be able to fall onto the lower roadway from the upper roadway. http://www.newsday.com/news/printedi...lihind19546776... No comment from the helmet lobby, I see. You know, you really shouldn't be bicycling drunk, either...how the **** he fell off the bridge, I just can't imagine. "He tried to turn around and hit a concrete barrier"?!?! Really, folks: if you ever ride on the highway, ignore the honking cars. I've ridden on highways and their bridge equivalents (that is, off the pedestrian path when construction necessitates it, like in Sam Hindy's case here), even in complete darkness (lights off on the bride for some reason) and have never had a problem. Sure you get some people who honk and sped past you very closely in a deliberate way, but that's still pretty rare. Just ignore the assholes. NEVER GIVE UP YOUR GROUND AS A BICYCLIST. THE ****ING ROAD BELONGS TO YOU. THEY NEED A DRIVER'S LICENSE FOR A REASON: DRIVING IS A PRIVILEGE, NOT A RIGHT. YOU ARE THE ONLY ONE WHO TRULY BELONGS ON THE ROAD. A BICYCLIST IS NOTHING MORE THAN A PEDESTRIAN ON A SADDLE. THE EARTH AND ITS PATHS BELONG TO US. DON'T LET THEM HONK YOU OFF THE ROAD FOR NO REASON WHATSOEVER! And really, stop drinking. Only morons drink **** water. Want a buzz? Get a vibrator. |

If it weren't for motor vehicles our bicycles would still be in the factories. |

Nope, because bicyclists and pedestrians are one and the same, the same class of road-users. The difference is akin to that between a passenger car and a long-hailer trailer. Big difference, but same over-arching category. If it weren't for motor vehicles our bicycles would still be in the factories. You do know that bicycles were invented before automobiles, right? |
