using 8 sp fr der with all the rest being 10-11 speed
So what problems might I encounter in using a 8sp front derailleur (in this case a triple road der.) with all the rest being 10 or 11 speed equip. Looking for a large capacity in the front and was simply wondering of the pitfalls.
Thanks , Pat |

Compatibility with your new LH shifter travel will be the largest impediment. -- Andrew Muzi www.yellowjersey.org/ Open every day since 1 April, 1971 |

Thanks , Pat Possibly the chain will stick between the chain rings during shifting instead of moving to the next chainring smootly and quickly. Cheers |

I assumed he meant an Athena Eleven triple crank but that's a good point. -- Andrew Muzi www.yellowjersey.org/ Open every day since 1 April, 1971 |

I tried using an 8 speed derailer with a 10 speed. Because the chain was narrower it was difficult to set the thing up and it would either fail to shift or it would over-shift. |
