Default Wheelsmith recommendation? (N. California)

Who's the "go to" wheelsmith in the SF bay area with experience in truing &
repairing mtb rims (possibly bent; see separate thread on that).

With respect, please recommend someone other than yourself. :-)

Thanks.

Hmmm, you don't say where in the bay area you're located, but here's a
few choices: arguably one of the best wheelbuilders IN SF is Len at
the Bike Nook in the outer Sunset. Len builds a very nice wheel and
can true up or rebuild if necessary. Give them a call at (415)
731-3838. Alternatively, if you're in the north bay, give Tony Tom a
call at A Bicycle Odyssey (415) 332-3050. Good Luck!

i second that. only guy i've found here whose results are better than
his sales pitch. all the others /tell/ you they're a great wheel
builder, but produce highly iffy results once you get that wheel on the
road. len is an "well, i'll give it a go" kinda guy, but goes on to
hugely impress with the fact that the wheel is just great and more
importantly, /stays/ that way.

Thanks. I'll stop in and see Len with my pretzel wheel in hand.

I dropped in on Len and let him give the rim a spin. He pronounced it truly
"trashed".

At least I know the best had a go and now can toss it away without
hesitation.
