Abut 80% of people in ICU experience delirium, which is what she is
describing from that time. Many of those folks have some PTSD from the
delirium itself, in addition to whatever emotional aftereffects of the
trauma or illness put them in the hospital. ICU docs and nurses know
about this and try to help the patient and their family understand
what's going on. It's called "ICU-itis" at the hospital I was at. That
she has recovered as well as she has is inspiring, and there's a prety
good chance that things will get better. Recovery from that level of
truma can take years.

It's also a reminder- be careful out there. Far too many people are
quite happy to endanger your life so they can get home two minutes
faster. If they even notice you in the first place.
