I was completely unaware that anyone was trying to pass off rollerless chains as an innovation. The only way you could get them to flex and wear better is by making the plates in a thinner and hence more flexible manner and the inner pins of a harder material. And this would cause increased where on the chain rings and cogs where the real money lies.

But, but... the new Taya road bike chains come in three sparkling
colors and is "diamond" hard :-)
