Cyclist in hospital after collision with crashed water tanker

Default Cyclist in hospital after collision with crashed water tanker

A CYCLIST has been hospitalised after a collision involving a water tanker near Ludgershall last night (Thursday).

The A343, between Ludgershall and Everleigh, was closed in both directions for a number of hours at the A338 junction.

Police say they were dealing with an overturned water tanker which had ended up in a ditch.

Officers originally believed that no serious injuries had been sustained but have since confirmed that a cyclist as involved in a collision with the water tanker.

The cyclist – a man in his 20s – sustained pelvic, chest and back injuries and remains in hospital.

The driver of the tanker was also hurt but suffered minor injuries only.

Police say that an investigation will be carried out, as is procedure, and enquiries are ongoing.

The road remained closed for a number of hours before eventually reopening at around 8pm

If you were a witness to the crash, you should call the police as requested.

The report made no comment on the posture of the bicyclist.


Mr Pounder was a witness, apparently.
Perhaps he can explain to us how the water tanker ended up overturned in a ditch?
