What a brilliant article! It doesn't even say why they were doing it!

Beckham's car should simply have continued to drive at about 3 or 4 mph. Any idiot getting in the way gets squashed.

Why did they need a few hundred cyclists anyway? They just needed a few of the likes of Simon to cycle in the middle of the lane.

They should hang the lot of them. Scum.

Dave - Cyclists VOR. "Many people barely recognise the bicycle as a
legitimate mode of transport; it is either a toy for children or a
vehicle fit only for the poor and/or strange," Dave Horton, of Lancaster
University, wrote in an interim assessment of the Understanding Walking
and Cycling study. "For them, cycling is a bit embarrassing, they fail
to see its purpose, and have no interest in integrating it into their
lives, certainly on a regular basis."

Beckham should have just run them over.

I think it was awful stopping those cyclists. As Anchor Lee pointed out at the
time - all that they were doing was trying to get home for their tea - and they
all just happened to live north of the Thames. It was certainly not a protest
of any sort.

(For the uk.legal people : Anchor Lee is a legal expert (actually a Barista)
who frequents URC)

And they wonder why they are despised. They get pretty much everything
their own way against evil drivers, yet they still continue to protest
and make out that they're unfairly treated. It seems that they will
never be grateful for the concessions that society makes to them, so
we should stop making those concessions.

Is that really what he said?! Ha ha! I'd love to see him try to weasel
his way out of this one. More likely he just won't dare to reply.

They had set out to sabotage the nation's most important sporting event for
decades, one where cyclists were to be prominent and celebrated ambassadors
for the UK and for the sport.

Yes, it's bizarre. Sabotaging pretty much any other event would have
been less nonsensical. Just shows that most of these people aren't
really fighting for "principles" or a "cause", they just want to cause
trouble and get attention because they're deeply unpleasant and they
feel inadequate*. Nastiness and disrupting people's days out for the
sake of it. They just love to give a big "up yours" to society.

* Exactly like the psycholist wannabe who's trying in vain to bully me
off Usenet, again...such people are not fighting for any "cause", they
just like to do their best to make others as unhappy as they are...but
unfortunately for this person, though I was going to stop posting
anyway soon, I'm not now thanks to them! :-) Can't have the
psycholists succeeding in their aim to cleanse Usenet of Inconvenient
Truths!

do you not think you could offer your service of strangulation?
perhaps £1000 a head would be suitable recompense for dirtying your
hands?
