Default Destiny of a vintage race bike ??

I wanted to ask advice from this group about what my best options are
for "passing on" a vintage road bike.

I have an old 75 Austro Daimler Super Leicht, un-assembled, with all
parts, wheels, except the seat. It's fully Campy Record and "well
used" - lots of chips on the paint job.

I haven't ridden this bike in 20+ years ... so I want to get rid of it,
but I don't have the heart to haul my old race bike to the dump. I've
actually tried giving it away, twice, but both times the supposed
interested parties pulled a no-show.

So I figure my possible options for this bike a 1) landfill, 2) ebay
(maybe someone needs old Campy parts or is into rebuilding vintage
bikes), 3) web classifieds, like mtbreview, or 4) ????
What would readers of this newsgroup suggest?

Thanks,

Tim Kelley

Two possibilities that come to mind:
- Salvation Army - If you assemble the bicycle first and possibly find a
seat for it you can be pretty well assured it will sell to someone who needs
it in their store. On the other hand, if you don't assemble it first, it
might get sold in one of their daily auctions as part of a giant lot and
then, well, who knows where it will go
- www.Freecycle.org - Find someone who will pick it up from your house and
then either use it themselves or resell it.

Ebay. You'll make a collector happy and make a couple bucks for your
trouble.

If if was a little less interesting of a bike I'd say yeah, just give it
to a charity.

In this case, I think it would be more fun to unite it with somebody
who'll appreciate it.

Heck if you were in the Nashville TN area,or a 200 mile radius, I'd come
and pick it up, sounds like my favourite type of puzzle.

That's a nice bike and has some value. Don't hurt it.
Post this to the CR list or sell it on e-bay. Someone who will love it may
buy it.
