Generally people would say 'North side' (as opposed to 'near
North' which is different).

My grandsons live six blocks from there and it's well within
the younger one's pizza delivery by bicycle area.

It just goes to show that bike helmets just aren't sufficient to
protect cyclists. What is needed is not separate bike paths but better
helmets!
