Centaur 10 speed Ergos with Mirage 9s derailleur?

Hi,

I have some 10 speed Centaur Ergopower levers lying around as well as a
10 speed cassette. I would like to know if they will work with a Mirage
9 speed rear derailleur. A riding buddy has a Mirage equipped bike and
I will give him these if it will work, but I don't want to monkey
around with disassembling his whole bike to see if it will work or not.

Yes. The derailer doesn't know or care how many sprockets there are. You
probably want to use a 10-speed chain though, because it's narrower and
a better match for the cassette.

It seems that Campy changed derailer ratios in 2001. If the derailer is
newer than 2001, Bob's your uncle. If your derailer is older than 2001,
your combo won't work well with a Campy cassette. That combo should work
well if you have a Shimano 10-speed cassette.

Your 10 speed Centaur Ergo shifters will work with a Mirage 9 speed
rear derailleur. If both are 2001 and beyond, then they will work
exactly as Campagnolo planned. Campagnolo did change the movement of
the rear derailleur in 2001. So pre 2001 Ergo shifters work best with
pre 2001 rear derailleurs. You can use pre and post Ergo shifters and
rear derailleurs. But in my experience the shifting is not quite as
nice as when they are mathced correctly.

Put on the 10 speed Ergo and 10 speed cassette and 10 speed chain and
the bike is ready to go. May or may not have to adjust the derailleur
a bit.
