Shocking dashcam footage showed Joshua Gardner, 18, brandishing the enormous blade on a busy south London road before repeatedly slashing at the car and threatening its 19-year-old driver, who got out and ran away. But an Old Bailey judge told Gardner he would only be given a suspended sentence because he was wielding the knife after a ten-day kidnap ordeal in which he was held at gunpoint. ENDQUOTE QUOTE 2: The decision sparked fury, with serving Greater Manchester Police officer 'Sgt K' tweeting that he had been left 'speechless'. ENDQUOTE A (two year) suspended sentence for attacking someone (or making the attempt as best he could) with an offensive weapon like that? Even if the intended victim *was* a drug dealer who had kidnapped the assailant on a previous occasion, we don't have capital punishment fordrug-dealing (though maybe we ought to). You think John Sainsbury should be executed for selling water, sugar and caffeine to the public? Which of those things are classified illegal drugs? JS also sell potatoes and barley from which poitin can be, illegally, made. Actually anyone can buy a pot still and illegally distill their own spirits so why are cannabis seedlings illegal? The difference is if you get the temperature wrong with a still you go blind from the methanol, cannabis plants simply die. Countries all over the world are starting to teach the ignorant that cannabis is not only one of the most versatile drugs, but a far safer alternative to drink for recreational use. You don't get violent fights with cannabis use. A&E depts dread the weekend when hoardes of drunks get brought in to get patched up from mindless fighting. -- Bod The thing is Nugent is proposing executing people for this. He thinks we should take a human out of their prison cell, march them down the corridor, put them in a room and snuff out their life for possessing Vodka. Very funny. For you. |

You think John Sainsbury should be executed for selling water, sugar and caffeine to the public? Which of those things are classified illegal drugs? You did not specify 'illegal' drug dealer, only drug dealer. Why would punishment of any sort be an issue in respect of activities which are not illegal? Wake up... If tobacco was discovered tomorrow and tested for fitness for human consumption it would be banned, as would alcohol. More people have died from water overdose than certain naturally growing herbs that are deemed illegal by the users of said herbs. Don't tell me. Tell your MP. Let him or her have a laugh with their secretary about you after you've gone. The problem is most MPs are so high on weed they cannot stop laughing. |
