Prolink lasts longer and cleans the chain. Boeshield is okay but prolink is better |

Boeshield gunks up the drivetrain with a waxy buildup, especially the derailleur pulleys. ProLink is good, if you can stand the smell-apply it to your chain and your whole basement will smell like an oil refinery. I like this stuff I get from Branford Bike, called PG2000 "metal protectant". It's similar to ProLink, but it's a spray so it's easier to apply and more economical. A 12oz can should last for years. It sprays on wet, but evaporates to an almost invisible, semi-dry coating that last for many hundreds of miles between applications. The chain runs very smoothly and repels moisture and dirt very well. |

ProLink vs. Boeshield for Chains
Sorry, I don't know Boeshield, but I have used ProLink.
I thought ProLink was the cat's meow until I started missing my relube schedule. (I think you have to put it on every week or so.) Then it must have gotten damp, or I did a light-rain ride and I started getting rust, and things just deteriorated. I think other lubricants (mine is TriFlow) are more forgiving and longer-lasting, but the chain gets dirtier. A ProLinked chain stays cleaner but you have to look after it closely. Just my experience. Joe |

I usually depend on the "sticky grease" that comes on a new chain for the first 1000 miles or so (I don't ride much in rain). Recently, I removed the chain, cleaned it in mineral spirits, and let it dry. Then I applied a drop of ProLink on each link and wiped off the excess. A couple of weeks later the chain was seized up with rust. I'm going back to motor oil. Art Harris |

My experience is similar. I use ProLink most of the time, but switch to oil in the winter. I find it stands up to water & road salt better. Prolink just isn't as good a rust preventative, but oil isn't perfect either. |

ProLink vs. Boeshield for Chains
"Appkiller" ONE DROP per link and you expected anything else after "a couple of weeks"?! Actually one decent size drop per rivet. Seemed like enough to me. Any more and it just runs off. Art Harris |

ProLink vs. Boeshield for Chains
"Gary Mishler" wrote in message news:rKbWa.30802$YN5.26914@sccrnsc01... Looking for input/opinions from people familiar with both. Thanks to all who responded. I've used Boeshield in the past but based on the responses I received I cleaned the chain and applied ProLink. I've ridden it a couple of times now and am able to report that I'm very happy with it so far. As several respondents suggested it goes on clean, stays clean and so far is working quite well for me. Thanks again, Mish |
