MIT Develops Copenhagen Wheel for bicycles Incorporating KERS
Thought this may interest a few of you. A research team from MIT is
borrowing the KERS idea from F1 and incorporating it into a bicycle wheel. Sensors measure and collect data as you ride, such as noise level and pollution and builds a profile over time to give you directions on which areas are better for cycling than others. All sensors and gadgetry for kinetic energy recovery is based inside this wheel. I hear the team is going to show this to heads of state at the Copenhagen Climate Conference tomorrow. Here's a press release : http://senseable.mit.edu/copenhagenw...essRelease.pdf MIT Sensable Lab website showing wheel design : http://senseable.mit.edu/copenhagenwheel/wheel.html Is KERS something novel or already been tried before? -Ron |
