?

I thought this thread was about 'safer roads' in Camden? Oh, I get it:
you were being a trolling psycholist in choosing that thread title.
Congratulations. Did it give you a hard-on posting that, knowing that
it was factually incorrect (and you were thus polluting uk.rec.cycling
with disinformation) but at least the lie would hopefully annoy a few
people? Is that the sort of thing a teacher should be doing, do you
think?

You're getting worse and worse. You are now generally
indistinguishable from a generic psycholist, except in your justified
criticism of uk.rec.cycling.moderated (but even that is for self-
serving reasons: you're trying to find things wrong with URCM because
you didn't get your way with it in the first place, and it just
happens that there are a lot of things wrong with it for you to find).

Where's the meat?

I understood the average speed in London was 8mph already, so how will this
help? and will it apply to bicycles? If it will not apply to bicycles,
then why are you posting it here?

Oh dear, Cheerless shows off his poor maths skills again.

Cheerless - the speed limit is a maximum, which is different to an average. The average includes times when the vehicle is staionary and moving very slowly, you see. Also, you are quoting rush-hour average speeds. Even then, it is perfectly possible to exceed 20 (or 30) in a journey and have an average speed of 8.

Let us know if you need this explained any more.

A report from the Department for Transport shows there were 2,262

fatalities and injuries in 2011 on 20mph roads in built-up areas — 24

Also reported on the BBC.

However, this story was debunked by "More or Less", and the BBC has now added this to the story:
"Update 17 August 2012: This story has been amended to clarify that there are no official figures showing if the number of 20mph zones has increased significantly. "
