Replacing freewheel - question about chain
My 27 x 1.25" back wheel for my Miyata road bike has a 6 sprocket
freewheel with 14 tooth high gear and 28 tooth low gear. The next to largest sprocket has a chipped tooth and although I found a replacement freewheel I discovered that I have a used 27 x 1.25" wheel with a 6 sprocket freewheel, but it's 14 tooth high gear and 30 tooth low gear. I don't have a freewheel removal tool that fits my current freewheel, so I decided to try using this used wheel. I guess because the largest sproket on this freewheel has two more teeth, it's noticeably larger than the other freewheel. When I put on the new chain, should I give it one or two more links than my current chain? Thanks for the advice. Dan |

ALWAYS CHANGE THE CHAIN WHEN CHANGING FREEWHEELS! No need if the freewheels have about the same amount of wear. ~PB |
