wasn't having to use the really low gears to get up the same hills,
whereas before I would struggle along in the lowest gear of the granny
ring.

So losing this weight (48lbs and counting) really is starting to give me
noticeable health benefits and that is a great incentive for me to stick
with it :-)

Hell. Try adding 48 Lbs of sand in a rucksack to
you AND Nathan. You may well have the same
muscles you had before, but they're having an easier
time.

14 weeks. Over that period I've averaged 3.5lbs loss per week.

Well done - that's really good going!

I'm losing more and consistently than the other WW'ers who don't

exercise

When I go out running, I pass the WW's meeting at the local primary
school. They drive to the meeting, but they don't park in the (empty)
street and walk in - that would be far too much exercise - they open
the gate and drive into the playground to park next to the door! I
can't help wondering if it's ever occurred to them it might do them
good to take a bit more exercise.

Thank you. The difficult bit is the keeping it off though!

Have to admit, the session I go to, the leader almost always refers to
exercise (and then is known to point at me as example of how it helps with
weight loss...). Some of the others say they go to the gym. There's one
other regular cyclist and a couple who have said that once the lighter
nights happen, they are going to start cycling to the meeting. It'll be good
if they do.

Cheers, helen s

Going to the gym and getting a useful workout at the gym are not
necessarily the same thing. A lot of people seem to think that slowly
walking half a mile on the treadmill followed by sitting on the weight
benches and gassing is a workout.

Is it any wonder you go more easily up hill with 48lbs removed? Try
going out again with 48lbs in your panniers and you'll see the
difference you've made by the weight loss alone. Of course you have the
added benefit that as cycling gets easier you do more and thus get
fitter too. Lighter load plus better engine - you win both ways.

All things are relative. Its probably more of a workout than they would get
without the gym membership.

OT - Castle Acre.

I lived there for a couple of years as a kid and cycled every road in a
10 mile radius - fantastic roads (though they were a bit emptier then).
The two olde tea shoppes in the village used to be the post office and
a fish and chip shop. I hope you cycled THROUGH the ford properly and
not over the bridge!
